Benthic communities and sediments
 | IRIS Biomiljø has long experience with sedimentsampling and assessment of environmental status and quality of benthic habitats and communities.
We offer different baseline studies and carry out monitoring programs for recipient waters related to discharges, leakage and runoff to marine environments from the oil- and gasindustry, municipal sewage, harbour activities,

| disposal sites and other industry. Our activities are related to both near-shore and off-shore waters.
These studies may be used to :
- Provide ecological background information on ecosystem vulnerability prior to development
- Document the environmental status and quality of a recipient area in accordance with national and international regulations
- Plan possible cleanup actions
- Adjust the positioning of outlets
- Advice on the safe consumption of local seafood
- Evaluate the role of benthic organisms in an ecosystem perspective
