  • BioSea - Joint Industry Programme
BioSea JIP is a research programme related to monitoring, interpretation and prediction of potential biological effects from hydrocarbon discharges from oil and gas activities offshore. The programme has relevance to North Sea and deep-sea, and has in addition a particularly strong focus on arctic conditions. It is financed by ENI Norge AS and Total E&P Norge AS.

  • Environmental Risk of Deep Sea Activities.
IRIS & Akvamiljø are currently conducting an environmental effect and risk assessment project for the oil company consortium co-opering within the Norwegian Deepwater Programme (NDP). The project was proposed for three years, and started in July 2003

  • UKOOA drill cuttings
In June 1998 the UK Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA) launched a programme addressing historical accumulations of drill cuttings beneath offshore installations in the North Sea. As part of this programme a number of studies were launched of which IRIS participated in and led several. The UKOOA initiative objective was basically to get enough knowledge of cuttings piles issues to be able to make sound decisions about how cuttings piles should be treated as part of a ecommissioning process.

  • DREAM
DREAM is a model tool made to simulate the environmental effects and risk of produced water discharges off-shore. It was developed in the period 1998-2001, and it has thereafter been the basis for further development of decision support tools for the oil industry. These include the Environmental Impact Factor (EIF), Environmental Risk based Management System (ERMS), or the integrated tool under construction with the working title: Marine Environmental Modelling Workbench (MEMW).
